A Trim Guide to the 2024 Kia Sorento

Large and in charge, the newest Kia Sorento for sale takes on a new look and features for the 2024 model year, including updated exterior and interior changes and the introduction of the all-new X-Pro SX Prestige trim.

Interior & Exterior Hues

You can get this vehicle in nine exterior colors and six different interior colors and material combinations. The exterior colors include Gravity Gray, Everlasting Silver, Ebony Black, Glacial White Pearl, Wolf Gray, Dawning Red, Midnight Lake Blue, Jungle Green, and Road Rider Brown. The interior colors and material combinations include Black Woven Cloth, Black Syntex, Gray SynTex, Black Leather, Sage Green Leather, and Olive Brown Leather.

Powertrain Configurations

The Sorento is available in front- or all-wheel drive and can tow up to 4,500 lbs. With four doors and three rows, this SUV is available in four different powertrains across multiple trim formats and can be configured to seat between six and seven passengers.

You have a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder that makes 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine manages 23 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway in front-wheel drive, and 23 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway in all-wheel drive.

The turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 281 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque and is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It manages 20 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway in front-wheel drive, and 20 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway in all-wheel drive.

The alternate two powertrains are hybrids that are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. There is the 1.6-liter four-cylinder hybrid that manages 227 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque; it achieves 39 MPG in the city and 35 MPG on the highway in front-wheel drive, or 36 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway in all-wheel drive.

Finally, the 1.6-liter four-cylinder plug-in hybrid is paired with a 13.8-kWh battery and two electric motors, and it’s only available in all-wheel drive. The plug-in hybrid achieves an estimated 79 MPGe and 32 miles of all-electric range.

2024 Kia Sorento LX

The LX is the entry-level trim for this three-row SUV. It comes standard with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs. The LX is configured in the seven-passenger seating format with one-touch sliding and folding second-row seats in Black Woven Cloth.

You get LED projector headlights, rear privacy glass, and the complete safety suite of Kia’s driver aids, such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection, and smart cruise control with stop-and-go tech. You also have standard aids such as a rear-view monitor with parking assistance and various driver attention warnings. Basic infotainment support with a 12.3-inch HD touchscreen, Bluetooth, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto all come standard, along with media hub support with USB charging.

2024 Kia Sorento S

The S is next in line after the LX; it features the same 2.5-liter four-cylinder but has upgraded 18-inch alloy wheels with a machine finish. The LX is also available in all-wheel drive with a center-locking differential and torque vectoring. The Sorento S also comes standard with roof rails and swaps the cloth seats from the LX with SynTex seating material and heated front seats.

You also have a ten-way power front driver seat with two-way lumbar support and an accompanying leather-wrapped steering wheel, plus a matching leather gear shift knob. The available panoramic sunroof package adds to the luxury appeal, along with wireless charging. You get a few more luxury features in the form of dual-zone automatic climate control, and it buffs up the USB media charging from five on the LX to eight on the S.

2024 Kia Sorento EX

The third trim for the 2024 Sorento features everything from the S, but it upgrades the powertrain to the 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged version, which gives you up to 3,500 lbs of towing capacity. The EX also comes with the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and it upgrades the wheels to 20-inch alloy wheels with a gloss black look and a machined finish.

Like the S, the EX comes with roof rails and SynTex seating material. However, the EX is a six-passenger iteration, swapping the split bench in the center with a second row of captain’s chairs. You get all of the comfort, safety, and convenience features from the S, but with a few other accouterments, such as the smart power liftgate with automatic close.

2024 Kia Sorento X-Line

The X-Line features the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and is only available in all-wheel drive. It also supports a towing capacity of up to 3,500 lbs, and it is also designed for minor off-road use thanks to the higher ground clearance at 8.2 inches and utility-focused roof rails. It also comes with some minor exterior styling changes and 20-inch X-Line alloy wheels with a gloss-black finish.

The X-Line sports a panoramic sunroof with power sunshade functionality. Inside, you have SynTex seating and a ten-way power driver’s seat with an eight-way power front passenger seat. You get the full infotainment and safety suites, along with an auto-dimming rearview mirror and the standard driver assistance features.

2024 Kia Sorento SX

The SX maintains the same powertrain configuration as the EX and X-Line, also in all-wheel drive. It also features the panoramic sunroof as a standard feature, along with LED tail lights and automatic rain-sensing windshield wipers. You get some added features like the smart power liftgate. The SX comes with 20-inch alloy wheels in a gloss-black design with a machined finish. Inside, the SX sports heated and ventilated seats, with a ten-way power driver and eight-way power passenger seats. The SX is also configured for six passengers with two rows of captain’s chairs.

In addition to the standard safety assists, you also have Highway Driving Assist 2 with advanced alerts and aids, including lane keeping and follow assist technology, as well as blind-spot view monitor and surround view monitor. The SX also comes with enhanced automatic emergency braking with built-in evasive steering assistance and junction crossing detection, giving you a lot of built-in safety features standard.

2024 Kia Sorento X-Line SX

The X-Line SX maintains the same powertrain configuration as the X-Line and SX. It also includes X-Line body styling and exterior features, such as a modified front fascia and rugged utility roof rails. A standard panoramic sunroof and smart power liftgate add a lot of utility and convenience to this trim.

Added to this, the X-Line SX has interior leather seating with a 14-way power driver’s seat, four-way power lumbar support, and a two-way power thigh extension. The X-Line SX even comes with a driver memory seat, heating and ventilation for both front seats, a heated second row, and a SynTex suede headliner. Part of the added features for the X-Line SX features a 115-volt power inverter, and Full Display Mirror with HomeLink technology.

2024 Kia Sorento X-Line SX Prestige

The X-Line SX Prestige comes standard with the four-cylinder turbocharged powertrain in all-wheel drive and with torque vectoring technology. The X-Line SX Prestige also features a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs and 20-inch exclusive aluminum alloy wheels in a gloss-black finish.

Like the other X-Line and SX trims, you get a standard panoramic sunroof and the smart power liftgate. As for luxury, the X-Line SX Prestige bumps up the seating with a 14-way power driver’s seat, driver memory function, and heated and ventilated genuine leather seats with X-Line embossed front headrests. You get a digital key, a full suite of driving assists, and the Bose Premium audio system featuring twelve speakers and a subwoofer.

2024 Kia Sorento X-Pro Prestige

The X-Pro Prestige is the top-of-the-line trim for the internal combustion engine iteration of the Kia Sorento. It comes with the same powertrain configuration as the X-Line SX Prestige, but it features the highest towing capacity out of the Sorento’s offerings at 4,500 lbs. You also get 17-inch alloy wheels paired with all-terrain tires.

Inside, the X-Pro Prestige has genuine leather perforated seats with the same embossed headrests as the X-Line SX Prestige. You have interior chrome door handles and the full safety and infotainment suites as the X-Line SX Prestige, along with the twelve-speaker Bose Premium audio system. One added feature that the X-Line SX Prestige and X-Pro Prestige get over the other trims is a 115-volt power inverter in the rear cargo area.

2024 Kia Sorento EX Hybrid

The EX Hybrid is one of the three alternative fuel versions of this vehicle, featuring a unique set of exterior and interior colors and improved powertrain specifications. It comes with a 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid powertrain with a six-speed automatic transmission and can be configured in all-wheel drive.

The EX Hybrid comes with a lot of the features from the EX trim but sports 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and a smart power tailgate. The EX Hybrid also seats six and features SynTex seating material with power-adjustable heated front seats. When it comes to the infotainment, it comes with a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen with navigation support, Kia Connect, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

2024 Kia Sorento SX Prestige Hybrid

The SX Prestige Hybrid adds more features on top of everything you get with the EX Hybrid trim, all while retaining the hybrid powertrain design. The SX Prestige Hybrid adds 19-inch alloy wheels and features a full LED light array along with power-folding side-view mirrors.

You also get the interior luxury elements from the previous trims, such as the leather seats, heated second row, and the same 10.25-inch HD touchscreen. The SX Prestige Hybrid, however, also comes with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. You also get smart key access along with all of the other convenience and safety features of the SX, such as Safe Exit Assist and both front and rear parking sensors.

2024 Kia Sorento SX Prestige PHEV

The SX Prestige PHEV, like the other hybrid models, comes with a unique set of exterior and interior material colors, which includes Silky Silver, Steel Gray, Platinum Graphite, Snow White Pearl, Gravity Blue, and Aurora Black for the exterior. The interior includes perforated leather in two different material designs, such as Genuine Gray Leather and Navy Color Pack Genuine Leather.

Unlike the other alternative fuel Sorento trims, the 1.6-liter turbocharged powertrain is a plug-in hybrid, and it can provide you with 32 miles of all-electric range. The SX Prestige PHEV is paired with 19-inch alloy wheels and comes with all of the standard features present in the other hybrid trims but with the added premium leather upholstery for the seats and wrapped steering wheel.
